Georgetown Insurance Service, Inc. Proudly Supports Marine Toys for Tots Foundation
Georgetown Insurance Service, Inc. and the Selective Insurance Group Foundation provide a Grant as Part of Regional Initiative for Community Impact
Silver Spring, August 9, 2019 – Georgetown Insurance Service, Inc. and the Selective Insurance Group Foundation (Foundation) partnered to support the efforts of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation Montgomery County Chapter through a $500.00 grant. Toys for Tots was selected by Georgetown Insurance Service for the grant as part of the Selective ‘President’s Club Matching Gift’ initiative, which allows premier agents the opportunity to make an impact in the communities where they live and work by providing a donation with matching gift from the Foundation. This is the fourth matching gift that Georgetown Insurance Service has received as part of being acknowledged in Selective’s President’s Club over the years.
The President’s Club Matching Gift program is run by the Selective Insurance Group Foundation which is a philanthropic affiliate of Selective Insurance Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIGI). Together with President’s Club agencies, such as Georgetown Insurance Service, the Foundation has supported thousands of community-based and national nonprofits in regions across the country since the initiative began in 2002.
“The Marine Toys for Tots program is a wonderful cause! My family has been raising toys and funds the past 16 years and look forward to it again this fall. Georgetown Insurance Service quickly jumped to help support 10 years ago when I started with the agency. What’s better than putting a smile on a child’s face with every toy you donate. In 2018 our local chapter distributed 54,473 toys to 37,186 needy children in our community.” said Sandy, Accounting Department, Georgetown Insurance Service, Inc.
The grant represents a $500.00 donation from Georgetown Insurance Service, matched by a $500.00 gift from The Selective Insurance Group Foundation. The grant will help Marine Toys for Tots Foundation Montgomery County Chapter’s efforts to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys to less fortunate children in the community during the holiday season.

Now in its eighteenth year, the Selective President’s Club Matching Gift program has more than doubled in size and scale. It has grown from supporting organizations in 11 states in 2002 to reaching charities in 23 states and the District of Columbia in 2018. With the help of 94 of Selective’s top agencies, the program granted more than $45,000 to more than 100 charities in 2018. The initiative aims to support community-based organizations with a variety of missions such as civic organizations, conservation and environmental agencies, educational entities, food banks and shelters, hospitals and hospice centers, military support services and others.
